How we create information

Editorial policy

Our standards for producing clear, evidence-led and useful health information.

Last updated: 12 September 2026

Editorial principles

  • Put the reader’s understanding and safety first.
  • Use plain language without overstating certainty.
  • Distinguish education from diagnosis and personalised medical advice.
  • Use credible, current sources and show meaningful review dates.
  • Keep editorial content distinguishable from advertising or sponsorship.

Sources and review

We prioritise national health services, public-health bodies, professional clinical guidance and peer-reviewed research. Medical claims should be traceable to appropriate sources.

Content requiring clinical judgement is not described as medically reviewed until a suitably qualified reviewer has approved it. Reviewer details and review dates will be shown where applicable.

Updates and corrections

We review content when important guidance changes and as part of a regular maintenance cycle. Material corrections should be made promptly and the page review date updated.

To suggest a correction, email hello@understandliving.com with the page address and supporting source.

Commercial independence

A commercial relationship must not determine a clinical conclusion. Sponsored content and paid placements will be labelled clearly, and relevant interests will be disclosed.
